Western Civilization I (Ancient History)

The students will be exposed to the critical events of history that led to the establishment History Clubof human civilization. The course will cover the early civilizations with emphasis on Ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman Civilizations through the fall of the Roman Empire.

Western Civilization II (Medieval History)

This course is a survey of European history from the fall of the Roman Empire to the beginning of the sixteenth century. Topics will cover the Crusades, feudalistic society, the development of international relations, and the role of the Church both as spiritual leader and political influence.

United States History

This is a survey course covering pre-Columbian America through modern times. The course covers the establishment of the American colonies and the development of the American nation.  It covers not only the military history of the United States, but also the foundational principles upon which our nation was built. It also includes an examination of original documents, and the people who made American history.

Economics

This course begins with an introduction to economics: the theories underlying it, models used, and their applications.  This introduction is followed by a discussion of the differences between Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, followed by an in-depth study of Macroeconomics, including policy goals, unemployment, monetary policy, and short-versus long-run economic models.  Students are required to complete both a macroeconomic project and paper, and homework, quizzes, and tests also are administered.  This course includes preparation for students wishing to sit for the AP Macroeconomics exam in May.
