Christ is Risen!

Posted on by TV

The founders and faculty wish everyone  a very Happy Easter.

May the Father, who for our redemption gave His only-begotten Son to the death of the cross, and by His glorious  resurrection delivered us from the power of the enemy, grant us all to die daily to sin, that we may evermore live with Him in the joy of His resurrection.

Christ is risen!  He is risen indeed!

Saint Michael Students Prepare for Pascha

Posted on by TV

On the 29th and 30th of March, Saint Michael students prepared spiritually for Pascha by attending the school’s annual Lenten retreats.  Nestled in a quiet countryside, St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Ladysmith, VA, provided the right setting for faith-filled discussions, communal prayer, quiet contemplation and the celebration of holy Mass with school chaplain Fr. Peter Reynierse.   Led by Ms. Erin Wilson and Mr. Patrick Looby, the retreats provided the students the opportunity to reflect upon the consequences for them of the Lord’s gift of salvation.

Preparation for the Paschal mysteries continued Maundy Thursday with recitation of the Litany from The Book of Divine Worship and confessions with Fr. Peter thereafter.

Warriors Kick Start the Soccer Season

Posted on by TV

The Lady Warriors soccer team played its first game of the 2012 season on Friday, March 23, against Wakefield Country Day School (WCDS) in Flint Hill, VA.  The girls showed a great deal of improvement over last year’s squad despite falling 1-0 to the host team.  In last year’s season opener against WCDS, the girls lost 7-0, only crossed midfield two times and had no shots on goal.  This Friday, the girls put pressure on WCDS throughout the match and got off 10 shots on goal by six different players: Maggie Van Deusen (3); Laura Woodhead (2); Katharine Britton (2); and Samantha Malanga, Clare Harding and Mary Grace Britton (1 each).  Mackenzie Lane had a shut out in goal during the first half with 8 saves.  Clare Harding was 3 of 4 with the lone goal coming off a WCDS corner kick.
